Must Know Tips for Growing orchids in Water Culture (Eng. Sub)

Hello! It’s Mongsheel. Today I’m going to fertilize my orchids,
but I’m also going to show you guys how I clean my vase and orchid leaves I let the water sit for a day in the watering can I already showed you guys this before, but I’m going to fertilize them with this orchid fertilizer I used to let orchid sit in a large vase filled with fertilized water for 30 minutes But now that I have a lot of orchids, that’s too time consuming
so I’m just going to pour the fertilized water into their vase All the orchids roots are soaked in fertilized water. I’m going to
let them sit for 30 minutes and then rinse the roots This is the orchid I show you previously, as you can see all the buds have bloomed So beautiful, right? I read couple comments about orchids wilting and dying early due to stress if you convert them immediately after purchasing it. That does not happen when you covert them into water culture I grow a lot of orchids in water culture and I recommend converting them to water culture immediately after purchasing it because it’s actually better for them The longer orchids live in a bark or moss, the harder for them to adjust to water So most important thing is to check the root health before purchasing the orchid Convert the orchids with healthy roots to water culture right away If you do, just like this orchid without any stress all the buds will fully bloom without any wilting I mentioned this tip several times in the previous videos, but checking
for the healthy roots is very beneficial when converting them to water culture Another comment I read was that you need to change
their water constantly otherwise, their roots will rot I don’t change their water often, rather I wait till water dry up then fill the vase with water Also if the roots are healthy, the water doesn’t get dirty The rotten or unhealthy roots do have foggy water, and so you might have to change the water daily, but for the ones with healthy roots, there is no reason to change the water that often So it’s been about 30 minutes so let me show you how I rinse
the roots and leaves and clean the vase Let me clean my orchid. I’m going to let it sit here I’m going to clean the glass vase. First dump out the fertilized water I clean the vase in the running water I’m going to now clean the roots and leaves. The water temperature
is very important. Do not use cold or hot water Use room temp. Water Now I’m going to clean the leaves. I use to clean the leaves
with a wet cloth, but now I clean them with the running water while I clean the roots One important tip is that you want to make sure the center
here doesn’t get wet. If they do it could get rotten so you want to be very careful I hold it like this and clean them to make sure the inner center doesn’t get wet If you take a look, I only clean up to here so the inner part doesn’t get wet Do it like this so the water doesn’t get to the inner part. I clean away the dust with water Now I’m going clean the opposite leave and again I make sure the inner center doesn’t get wet The center remained dry. It’s very important to make sure water doesn’t go in there I just clean the leaves and roots in running water I place it back in the glass vase, and I’m going to pour in the day old water This is a mini-orchid. I’m going to clean it the same way. You can
see the new leave growing out in the middle If you get the center wet, just wipe it with a tissue If this is too much, you can just clean it with a wet cloth. I don’t
clean the leaves often so I just clean it at the same time I clean the vase New root is also growing out I also remove any bad roots while I clean them. I’m going to remove this root in the middle Also the older leaves turn yellow like these, and I will take care of them right now They just fall off easily I remove these types of old leaves while I clean them As for this one, as you can see it doesn’t come off so I’m going
to leave it alone till it falls off on it’s own I’m going to clean the rest of the vases and orchids All the orchid roots and leaves have been cleaned as well as
their glass vases and I also watered them Once I clean them, for the next two weeks I don’t really do anything else to them This is it for today. As always thank you for watching and I will be back with another video
