Cruel boyfriend called partner ‘baby killer’ after she had miscarriage

A farrier at the prestigious Cheltenham Racecourse subjected his girlfriend to a campaign of harassment and called her a “baby killer” after she miscarried their child  Scott Manson, 30, tormented the woman for three months after the loss of their unborn son  He threw her underwear in a bin, cut her clothes, shoulder-barged her, squashed her in a door, sent her a distressing card and demanded she transfer money to him  Manson, who shoes horses at Prestbury Park, the home of the Cheltenham Festival, pleaded guilty to harassment at Cheltenham Magistrates Court yesterday  This related to nine main acts affecting the victim between October 1, 2018 and January 3, 2019  Sue Gethin, prosecuting, described how Manson threw her underwear in a bin on December 3  She said: “He got in her face and said ‘bin day’ and seemed to think it was funny ”    The court also heard that Manson called her a four-letter word and blamed her for the couple’s unborn son dying when she had a miscarriage  Reading from a victim impact statement, Ms Gethin explained the woman thought the relationship soured after six months, when Manson’s behaviour concerned her  The victim said she loved him and the good times outweighed the bad.  But Manson became “extremely unsupportive” when she lost her baby in May last year  She said: “On the evening of my birthday, the same day he threw my clothes into the bin, he called me a baby killer  “As a result of his behaviour, I’ve lost the person I once was.”  Tony Miles, mitigating, said: “Mr Manson is thoroughly ashamed of is behaviour This is a relationship that started well and ended badly.”     He was given a 30-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and a two-year restraining order  Manson, of Newent, is barred from contacting the victim or going to one of four addresses in Gloucestershire where she either lives or visits  The court also ordered Manson to pay the victim £2,505, a victim surcharge of £115, and court costs of £135  After the hearing, a spokeswoman for the racecourse said that Manson was “not an employee of the company and works for us as a contractor”
