How to calculate safe and unsafe periods part 2

good evening to all the wonderful viewers out there and it's time for the one and only a dogs class with myself mr. smooth and this program is currently the most educated adult class in the whole of this country and I'm sure that for those of you who watch the show you know and we are in our first year for one year I've been doing a lot of education on this show and we would be continuing from where we left off last weekend we created some very educated stuff on the best recycle many people hold and were not very clear about how to calculate the days that they are safe and a days that they own safe and then the problem was okay so how do you get to know so that you can avoid these contraceptive pills and stop taking very majestic contraceptive pills as well and also don't have unwanted pregnancy especially when I won't become naughty in you know Mart or probably we don't have a child you're married so what we are going to be doing next is then we are going to in mr. Small's corner we couldn't looking at how to calculate how to chart your menstrual cycle how to know the exact days that you oval-8 whether your cycle is a 25 day 2627 all the way to 35 we're gonna have all the details so you can know the exact times that you are safe and exact times that you cannot get pregnant so those who want to get pregnant too can also be able to plan and then have children as they want but before we get into the classroom of course we start my name is mr. smooth and I'm taking my seed and mr. Small's classroom and like I said today we're gonna do something really exclusive last week we started it I showed you a couple of videos and then I had a number of calls surprisingly I mean I've had more calls I have more calls last week than I ever had since we started this show a year ago and when we finished the show I was checking my missed calls and stuff and messages I had I said wow I was not even expecting this number of people watching the otoliths class ooh it means that show is becoming bigger and bigger each day and each week we are getting new viewers and if you want to watch what we did last week it is on my youtube channel the channel is a popular mr. smooth you can find it there plus most of the videos we have done or most of the lessons we have done here on the other words class throughout the Xia that we started so you can find it on my youtube channel of a commoner mr. smooth today I would want to go back to what I was talking about yesterday last week and probably take my time to make some of the ladies because all the husbands who are so concerned about knowing discipline see fear get to understand well so I'm gonna show you jump some few videos and then also I'm going to show you exactly how to calculate the safe and unsafe period one more time this time I'm going to be very very practical and very simple our try as much as possible not to be technical on this one but before then I want you to watch this video it just tells you what menstruation is all about Haitian also having a period the uterus is the part inside the body where a baby grows when a woman is pregnant the inner lining of the uterus supports under nourishes the developing baby if there is no baby but lining is shed during the period during a period the body through the vagina a period can last from a few days to about a week you may have heard doctors talk about the history cycle this is the time from one period to another usually about 28 days day one of the menstrual cycle is the first day of a period the uterus starts to shed its lining you see women have two ovaries one on each side the fallopian tubes lead from each ovary to the uterus in the middle of night recycle an ovary releases an egg after ovulation the egg travels down the fallopian tube it takes a few days to complete the journey meanwhile the line of the uterus gradually gets thicker so can support the development of a fertilized egg if the egg gets fertilized it will implant the uterus and the woman is pregnant if the egg is not fertilized the women is not pregnant and the egg will begin to dissolve because the woman is not pregnant the lining of the uterus is not needed a woman will have a monthly period and this cycle begins again you can tell exactly what the menstruation is all about now you understand a woman has two ovaries and a woman has a uterus and at a certain time the fallopian tube the ovary would lay an egg that will pass through the fallopian tube all the way to implant itself inside the uterus along the line from the fallopian tube all the way into the uterus it takes a number of this most times five days when it is on that journey when there's any fertilization taking place then the woman gets pregnant so by the time the egg gets into the uterus it implants itself andum pregnancy begins but if the usual air the egg doesn't meet any egg then the lining of the uterus or the endometrium will be shed and then that is the bleeding now this is a typical chart that I showed last week that caught many attention maybe the eyes of many people well we're looking at when women are semi fertile when they are fertile when your most fertile and where they are infertile I'm going to break this down very very simply for everyone to understand but if you have a daughter and your daughter is watch this video and then learn to understand the changes she goes through so when she is climbing and getting close to puberty where she was not over lating you'll be able to tell her what changes she's gonna go through and what is going to happen to her so just watch this video – we're going to make life simpler both of you is your daughter in her early teens and it's about time you told her about periods and all your young girls periods no we're not talking about your school timetable I'm sure you want to walk there well here's a mother's guide to explain the menstrual cycle to her daughter so first things first menstrual cycle or menses or periods are all the same thing most girls get their first period between 11 and 13 years old but it can start anywhere from age 8 to 16 the average cycle for most girls is 28 days but it may last from 21 to 35 days and still be normal so every month for 4 to 5 days women experienced their periods during which their uterus discharges blood and vagina matter yes this is a very serious information but it's also important to get it out there but how does it work when it's understand it all starts with hormones hormones are something her body makes and uses to control her body's functions as your daughter approaches puberty a part of a brain called pituitary gland begins releasing more and more of certain hormones these hormones stimulate her ovaries to produce estrogen estrogen is the female hormone responsible for the changes that take place during puberty and during her monthly menstruation cycle so what is this menstrual cycle well the menstrual cycle has four phases phase one pre ovulation women and girls have two ovaries that contain thousands of eggs called OVA during the pre ovulation or follicular phase hormones stimulate the development of eggs at the same time the soft lining called the endometrium of the uterus the place where a baby can grow starts to thicken it phase two ovulation ovulation occurs when a mature egg or eggs is released from the ovary after the egg is released it travels along the fallopian tube to the uterus if the egg is fertilized it will stick in her uterus and develop into a fetus ovulation usually happens around 10 to 16 days before the next period phase 3 premenstrual or luteal phase after ovulation hormones trigger her body to continue developing the protective lining needed to hold a fertilized egg during this phase if a woman is to become pregnant the egg moves into the uterus and then attaches to the lining if she's not pregnant the lining of the uterus is shared through the vaginal opening during menstruation phase 4 menstruation the wound lining leaves the body through the vagina as a reddish fluid continue blood typically about a quarter of a cup of blood although it can seem like a lot more so young girls this is the biology behind your period now that you know why it happens we hope you know it's a very normal and healthy thing that marks your transition from a girl to a woman just like your mother so if you have any confusion don't hold it in ask your mother she if you have any confusion don't fret just ask and I will tell you so you've shown you exactly how it happens and how you should communicate this with your daughters next I am going to look at how do you calculate this menstruation thing so that you can know when exactly you are menstruating we keep saying that some people have 21 days 24 days 25 days 26 days all the way to 35 days what is your cycle how do you calculate your cycle how do you get to know when you are over lating how do you get to know when you are about to have your menstruation so we need to get a chart so I'm going to show you another video that shows you how to chart it then I am going to discuss with you how you do the chart for yourself as well so watch this fit or this other video I have for you creating an ovulation calendar is pretty simple the way to do this is to just get any calendar you might have and what you'll do is that is you'll note on the calendar the days of your menstrual period and you want to start with the first day of your menstrual period so on whichever day that occurs you write down another one and what you can do is just continue forward writing on every subsequent day number two number three four so on and so forth and then when you have your next period that again will start the whole process over again and you'll start with number one on that day by doing this you'll know what the length of your entire menstrual cycle is and a normal cycle ranges between 25 and 35 days if your cycle is either less or greater than that there's something causing that and you should probably seek out the help of a physician to help figure that out but if your cycle is within 25 and 35 days as most are then usually the most common reason for creating an ovulation cycle is trying to achieve pregnancy so the next thing you want to figure out is when you ovulate ovulation is the optimal time to become pregnant that usually happens anywhere between 13 and 15 days before the onset of your period so what you do is you create a calendar of writing down when you have your periods and and then you do that for several months and then when you see a clear pattern then you can then extrapolate from that and go forward and and optimize the times when I would engage in intercourse to try to achieve all right so we are back after you saw how to do the calculation and let me take you through how to do this thing very simply all it takes is get a calendar when you get a calendar you are looking for the D touch your menstruation starts the day or the date that your menstruation starts is counted as the first date so if you are related on the 1st of July the 1st of July is counted as day 1 most women who were menstruate for 3 to 5 days and in some cases 7 days so you count all the days that you are menstruating all the days that you were menstruating so if you men stood up to 5 days you can use a different pen color to mark the first date that you had your menses and then the last day that you had your menses to but your menses stopped you also take note of it and then you look at for the first for the start you are now getting to know the length of your menstruation when you get to know the length of your menstruation that we can do all the other calculations that come with it so first of all is a length we are looking at you need to do this chart over a period for some people you need to do between three months and six months to be able to get an accurate calculation of what I am talking about so first of all when you get the day and the date that you started your countess day one and then they did that you have your next menstruation that is the next time if it was in June you had it on June 1st then you what you count the number of days it took for you to have your next menstruation then you mark that date – then what you do is you count the days in between the the first time you had your menses the last time you had your menses and the current time that you have in your menses it gives you the number of days that you manage to it now in menstruation there are two phases the first phase is usually 14 days and the second phase is also 14 days the second phase is constant 14 days in most times now when it becomes longer or shorter it's the second phase via follicular phase that becomes Adam longer or shorter the luteal phase is usually almost always 14 days so that is what you need to look at so once you get to know the number of this whether it was 21 22 24 25 26 and usually you may have between the 28 26 and sometimes it varies all based on some hormonal changes that women go through as they age so it is important to understand that one one time or the and you may have a different number but when you find the average you should be able to know so here what we are saying in this once you get the first date that you had your menses luck that did you had a message last month and they did you have having your message this month your calculates the number of days in between that you get to know the length but you do the same thing for another month you do the same thing for another month you do the same thing for another month and then you have an average length of your menstruation then you can find the average once you find the average you know that your menses is either a 2060 a 28 day or a 30 or 35 T so that is the first thing you need to do finding the average now once you find the average you should look at the shortest time that you had your menses you look at the longest time that you had your menses and you look at the most common cycle length how frequently within that six months you had a setting length that becomes the average for your cycle and then also you should understand like I said earlier that most women have a 28-day cycle and if you have a 28-day cycle the 14th is the date that you ovulate so if you look at this chart that I have here I have specifically made this one for you to make it a little clearer for you to understand so let's see it you have the follicular phase the follicular phase is before ovulation between the time you have in your menstrual cycle or your menstruation well between that time you are bleeding the egg has not been laid the follicle has not been laid so we contact trying the follicular phase and the follicular phase like I said usually takes the 14 days or less or in some cases so you have your ministration for five days and then you have the uterus lining thickening again between the set seven eighth and ninth and tenth day around that period you are safe you can engage in anything sexual that is when I said it was semi fettle because around that time you're not getting too close to when you are over latent now when it gets close to that time you're supposed to over late if you have a 28-day cycle you over lit on the fourteenth day what happens is you have the Ovation mucus or the cervical mucus being secreted by the body and that's mucus is capable of holding the spam so when you lay the egg the sperm meets the egg so from that sense the sperm can survive in the woman for three days we say that three days before ovulation and three days after ovulation is not safe to engage in anything sexual three days before ovulation three days after ovulation is not safe to engage in anything sexual so we are saying that from the day you have your menses which is day one all the way to day ten you can have sex but the period that the administration is flowing is not too healthy and it's not too whatever for some people but around that time you are not fed out to be able to have a child most times you don't get children around those areas but after your menstruation that period from the sixth day to the tenth day you are not that fertile but from the eleventh day if the spam of the man is very strong they can survive in a woman for two to three days and then when she overlays on the 14th day you can get here impregnated and then also when a lay egg is laid three days after if there's any sperm are on that area there's a possibility of getting the woman in pregnant so from the 19th day all the way through to the time when the woman gets a next man's menstruation she is safe and you can have as much sex as you want so if you are checking it there are more saved days to have sex and have your menses than there are to abstain or to stay off now to make it clearer most women do not have 1621 day 26 days or 30 days I'm showing you another video that breaks it down that makes you understand if you have a 16 day after you have done your chart you realize that you have a 21 day cycle when you would over late and when you will not ovulate so you look at your sieve window and on the save window for their dates from 26 all the way to 35 so watch this video attentively be careful carefully study this video because of that I look at just that the last chart and they will end the class versity so just watch this video you know if you ovulate and the most important thing how do you know when you ovulate why do you need to know about ovulation because you can only get pregnant around ovulation time ovulation is when an egg is released each month from the ovary and the egg needs to be fertilized by the sperm in order in order to develop into an embryo which then grows and becomes a baby so obviously knowing about ovulation is the most important thing that we need to know about when trying to get pregnant knowing if you are delayed is also essential I often get asked how do I know if I ovulate if your period is regular most likely you are ovulating each month and by regular I mean that your period comes once a month that you know when to expect your period it could be every 28 days every 30 or a variation on that but if there is a regularity to it then you were most likely ovulating here and there I've heard of some women who have had very regular periods but did not ovulate or release an egg each month but this is not that common however if you never know when to expect your period or sometimes you go for weeks or months without a period and then it may mean that there is an issue with ovulation it does not in any way mean you won't be able to get pregnant just that it might be a little bit more difficult so if you do not have periods that come regularly that I think it's a good idea to see your doctor to explore further any issues with ovulation now let's get to the most important question how do you know when you ovulate let's start by taking a quick look at the basic menstrual cycle this picture shows a 28-day menstrual cycle a menstrual cycle is split into two puffs the first half is when you get your period then you period endless and then the body begins to build back up with juicy lining in the womb or the uterus getting ready for pregnancy variation is when the egg is released if the egg is fertilized by sperm it becomes an embryo and if it implants then the lining of the uterus then pregnancy begins if the egg is not fertilized then the egg breaks down and this sends a signal to the body that there is no pregnancy and then after a few more days your menstrual cycle ends and then you get your period which is the start of the next menstrual cycle so how do we calculate when we ovulate it starts simply by first making a note of the date when you get your period day one which is the first day of your menstrual cycle is the first day of real bleeding I know that some women have some spotting before their period begins but this doesn't count the first real bright red bleeding is the first day of your menstrual cycle so make a note of that day and then make a note of the date of the next period and then count the days in between for example if you get your period on September first and then get the next one on September 29 your cycle is 28 days in length our relation occurs roughly 14 days before you get your period so here a fairly simple way to figure out when you're ovulating this will vary a bit between women but it gives you a rough idea to start with in the beginning if you have a menstrual cycle that is 28 days in length you can deduct 14 from 28 to get 14 if your cycle is a bit shorter say 26 days then you will oscillate around day 12 if your cycle is on the longest side 30 days for example then you will oscillate around day 16 so 30 minus 14 is 16 again there are some exceptions to this some women may have what is called a new teen phase defect which means that that second half of their cycle is much shorter than 14 days but again this is not that common once you figure out when you ovulate the next step is to calculate your fertile window the Fertile window is the only time during a menstrual cycle when you can get pregnant despite what we have been taught to think that we can get pregnant at any time during a menstrual cycle if we're having unprotected sex it's actually not true there is just a short period of time about a week in length when we can get pregnant let's have a quick word about sex if you're having regular sex every day every two days throughout the entire menstrual cycle then you don't really need to calculate this Foothill window or even calculate ovulation as you'll be having sex around the time the egg is released if you're having regular periods and having frequent sex and just keep doing what you're doing for the next six months or so let's see if you get pregnant I'll discuss more in my next video series what to do after six months of trying if you're not pregnant but for now let's get back to ovulation for many reasons couples are not having regular sex it can be due to travel with work religion other children or commitments making less time for sex or couples have reached a point in the relationship where sex is less important or one or both of the couples have a lower in libido then it becomes very important to calculate this Fertile window so you can time sex with ovulation and increase your chances of getting pregnant a couple of things to understand when thinking about this concept the Fertile window the sperm typically lasts up to five days inside the uterus after Israel after it's released during sex the egg on the other hand is a bit more fragile and only survives for around a day this means that the Fertile window is about six days in length which includes the time the sperm can survive plus the time the ex survives and now for the most important thing to remember about the Fertile window this is the time before a relation and the day of ovulation it is not after ovulation this is a common mistake that people think that there is time to have sex after ovulation and still get pregnant if there is one thing that you take away from this presentation is to have sex before ovulation this is the most important thing to remember think of this picture and I love this idea our colleague of mine a few years ago gave me this analogy and I've used it ever since because I think it's perfect in this situation if you have Madonna or Lady Gaga about to God stage to perform do you think she's gonna go out there if the seats are still empty of course not it's you need to fill up all of the seats in the theater before the diva comes out on stage so get the sperm in the uterus get them in there swimming up to the fallopian tubes and hanging out waiting for the egg to be released don't wait until a relation to have sex as it could be too late because it takes time for the sperm to swim all the way up to the fallopian tubes to meet the egg so fill all those seats before the diva arrives on stage this is a chart to show a proximal fertile windows based on your cycle length you can take a look at this and see roughly when your fertile window is alright so is it no let me explain this and then we can become interactive connected with a phone line become interactive with you and then we share your views as well now look at this if you have a twenty twenty six days cycle that is after checking for about four five months and you realized that you have an average length of 26 days all you do is you subtract 26 or you take 14 out of 26 and they you get 12 it means that your fertile window is between d7 and the 13 that means when you have your menses from day 7 today 13 you can get pregnant that is what it means if you have a 20 day 26 day cycle if you have a 26 days cycle what you do is you take 14 days out of it when you take 14 days out of it it simply means that you overlaid on the twelfth day of your menstruation because usually the second part or the luteal phase off demonstration is constant constant 14 days so what you do is you take a number of days that you missed rate the days the length of your menstruation you take it out of the 14 and the number you get is a day that you ovale it and I am saying that if you want to get pregnant then you shall feel the fallopian tubes with sperm before the day of ovulation if you if you want to have children and in the video you are saying that you should if you are able to time it well then you feel in the spam on the day dashes of Lading and then it becomes magical you can get your sure sure sure but two days before ovulation it's the best time to three days before ovulation is the best time to deposit the spam so that it waits for the egg to be laid by the ovary so that fertilization takes place so if you have a 2016 cycle you would have your ovulation on the 12th day now if you have a 27 days cycle what you need to do is to take 27 out of 14 or you took 14 out of 27 sorry you take 14 out of 27 and you get 13 so it means that your fertile window is from the eighth day to the 14th day so when you have sex from the eighth day to the 14 day it's possible you get pregnant the next thing is another 29 day cycle when you check your average after making your chart you realize that your your time is between is 29 days it simply means that you took 14 out of 29 you get 15 then you over lit on the fifteenth day so if you over lit on the 15th day then from the tenth day to the sixteenth day you can engage in sex when you want to have children if your your cycle is a 30 day cycle it means that when you take 30 out of 40 and 14 out of 30 it gets 16 so it means that your ovulation day is on the 16th day 16th day meaning the day that you had your menstruation is day 1 you finish your menstruation on day 5 and now you continue counting to day 16 the 16 is when you're going to over lit three days before the ovulation then that is a period you start having sex so you can get pregnant if you have a 31-day your ovulation day is a 17 and your window is from 11 to 17 or 18 from 12 to 18 if you have a 32 day it means you oval it on the 18th day so your window is from the thirteenth day to the nineteenth day that is why on that chart I opened it up to make three days before ovulation three days after ovulation to cover up for those who don't have regular cycles but half 26 27 28 29 and even 30 35 so that all of them will be covered in the chart that I showed initially as those fatalities so all the period after the overly or ovulation is just to make room for those who don't have 20 days a 28-day cycle but have 29 30 32 or 35 days I'd also take note of that so you grab a 33 day cycle is simply means that you open it on the nineteenth day and after the nineteenth day it means that from the 14th day to the 20th day that is when you have your fertile window and then you get pregnant so here what we are saying is first of all you need to keep a chart you need to keep track of your menstruation imap a change timbi are over your medicine or the actual date and tour dates in a patron a patron as ad are all menses and upper Bann that is the day one that is the first date day one and our woman says in Berrian or a deck and so a five days and that is day 5 or a 60s that is day 6 that is what we are saying and then say I hear what charge Naevia the next time a Bioman society every last one a year no one in my area CCR now can in Darwin feel feeling nay they wonder why or take it to the 60s and now 27 days I'm not trying to eat this nice man
