'I had an abortion': Irish mother reveals what it’s like to travel to England for a termination

I had an abortion when I was 18 I was in a steady relationship and our contraception failed their contraception is 100% effective we know this and I knew I was pregnant most likely before I did a test because I had morning sickness from literally just after I miss my period chronic morning sickness and i sat and talked to a parent at the time and he was very supportive and said whatever you need to do I was working at the time and was saving up to go on to college on to university I wanted to move forward with my life I wasn't made to be a parent I'm the eldest of five so I know what it is to have a busy family life and what it is to raise children and I was so living at home and I wasn't ready so my first time leaving Ireland and my first time on a plane was to travel to London to have an abortion I had told them that we were going away for a romantic weekend and people were given this list of all the places we should go and all the things that we should see knowing that I was only going to be seeing hospital corridors clinics corridors waiting room carriers airport corridors and floors that was really tough when I got out of my taxi the groups the Sun decided protests they know what days women from Ireland are coming over and they were shouting at me in English and an Irish Tiger idea I guess the land of God loves you and your baby as I'm heading on my way into the clinic I underwent general anaesthetic so I had to spend the night in the clinic and then the next day it was back to the B&B or I knew that I was going home to share a bedroom with my sisters so I had to get all of my crying done that might and we cried and I scream and cried but I remember leaving the B&B the next day and my heart feeling so much lighter it was done I'd managed us despite all the obstacles had not been able to try to find money find the information other planning are the lying all of us it was done and I wasn't pregnant anymore and I could continue at my life the next time around I got pregnant it was absolutely plant it's what I wanted and when my son was born and I got to hold him for the first time I was just absolutely overjoyed it absolutely made me even more pro-choice having gone through pregnancy and everything that pregnancy is and then when I have my daughter and I was like that's it I'm done I'm a boy and a girl I'm so happy people say it's a tough decision and people need time to make the decision but there are women have already made their decision I'm I'm in my mid-40s my kids are but adults because they're teenagers turning into adults my family's complete I have a son the daughter and even though I'm using the best contraception I have and I know more Denali buddy contraception fails so if I was to find out the months timer or a year's time that I was pregnant again I'm done having babies I've already made that decision and they're people to talk a lot about repeat abortions it's people diff in different times are their lives and men will have between 30 and 40 years of fertility to try and manage and try plan their lives and plan their families so you have to trust us to make the best decisions for ourselves

  1. @1:00 I'm just surprised anyone would fuck this fat ugly cow in the first place. At least there won't be another cow walking around.

  2. Interesting to see anti-choice supporters rallying on videos like these, the referendum is over guys. Live your life however you want, but stop the bullying. Incredibly brave woman to speak out honestly x

  3. IRELAND IS NOW WORSE THAN THE NAZIS WHO SENT PEOPLE TO THE GAS CHAMBERS. NOW WE HAVE VOTED TO SEND OUR UNBORN TO THEIR DEATH BEFORE THEY CAN DRAW A BREATH OR SPEAK A WORD.
IRELAND IS THE FIRST COUNTRY TO VOTE TO KILL ITS UNBORN. ALL IN THE NAME OF COMPASSION.
    GIVE ME A BREAK.
WHAT A BOAST TO HAVE ON OUR CV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE HAD AN UNIQUE OPORTUNITY TO SPEAK FOR THE UNBORN, BUT WE FUNKED IT.
SHAME ON US, SHAME ON US, SHAME ON US

  4. " It was really tough" says the selfish bitch…probably wasn't easy for your child either…no mention of fatal foetal abnormalities..rape or incest here..just an inconvenience so we'll just kill it them

  5. Are we supposed to feel sorry for this woman – who murdered her unborn child – because she wasn't ready???? Notice we are seeing lovely blossom flowers in this video instead of blood and guts.

  6. 100% non religious NO vote here…"i wasnt ready to be a parent" thats her reason to end a VIABLE prenancy. How many "I" and "me" were used in that video? Irelands future simply being deleted for selfish adult reasons vote NO

  7. Assimilate into an advanced paradigm such as America & Europe to mention just a convencing trend.
Ireland quit the backward fool mintality

  8. after my abortion we sat around and ate ice cream and cried, ive stopped crying but im still eating ice cream
ide say when mister whippy comes around her street it brings back fond memories
    vote no to murder

  9. A British paper exorting a public policy that will kill Ireland well that would mean the British establishment is racist against the Irish…….omg, I mean like no way.

  10. She can't be blamed, she didn't commit any sin, she just used her brain instead her paradigms,….. Allowing freely abort we can reduce poverty in a few generations.

  11. I worry about the people who have to perform these abortions and clean up afterwards. I don't think they can opt out, can they?

  12. Now do a video called "I genitally mutilated a fetus"

If you can remove the brain from a fetus, you can remove the clitoris from a fetus. The clitoris is just a clump of cells.
