Lawn & Gardening Tips : How to Fertilize Flowers

I’m Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. Let’s
talk about fertilizing flowering plants. At Showplace Lawns we like to use an organic
fertilizer in a liquid form which we find that that works the best and the quickest.
The fertilizer that we use mixes at a ratio of 1 ounce per gallon of water. The best time
to fertilize is in the early morning from about first light to about 10 or 10:30 and
then again in the evening probably from 6:30 until dark. What that is happening is the
stemato parts of the plants are open and able to take in more of what you are putting on
the plants so that is why those two types are ideal. We use the basic hose in sprayer,
screws right on to the end of the hose, put our mix in this container and just spray the
plant.
You want to spray each flowering plant heavy enough or long enough until you see the leaves
are dripping with the moisture. Doing this about once a month during the growing season
will definitely help your plants to put out fruits and flower like you would like to see
them.
