Mother Charged For Giving Daughter Abortion Pills

A JUDGE IN NORTHERN IRELAND HAS
MADE A VERY VERY GOOD RULING IN A CASE INVOLVING A 15-YEAR-OLD
WHO WAS GIVEN AN ABORTION PILL BY HER MOTHER AND THE MOTHER IS
NOW FACING PROSECUTION AS A RESULT. THIS CASE HAS TO DO WITH LAWYERS
WHO WANT TO QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT IT’S OKAY TO PROSECUTE THE
MOTHER DIED IN NORTHERN IRELAND, ABORTION IS ILLEGAL IN ALMOST
EVERY CASE UNLESS THERE IS AN EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCE AND PEOPLE
ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE THE ABORTION PILL, AND SO WHEN THE
15-YEAR-OLD WHO IS UNNAMED TO PROTECT HER PRIVACY BECAME
PREGNANT, THE MOTHER WENT ONLINE, FOUND AN ORGANIZATION
THAT SELLS THE ABORTION PILL ESPECIALLY TO COUNTRIES WHERE
ABORTION IS RESTRICTION STARTED AND GAVE IT TO HER
DAUGHTER. THIS GROUNDBREAKING CASE IS
ACTUALLY SET TO FOCUS ATTENTION ON NORTHERN IRELAND’S
ABORTION LEGISLATION. A JUDGE IN BELFAST GAVE
PERMISSION FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW TO BE HEARD OVER THE
PROSECUTION OF THE MOTHER, STATING THAT THE CASE RAISED
ISSUES OF CONSIDERABLE PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PUBLIC
DEBATE. SO AGAIN, THIS IS ALL ABOUT
WHETHER OR NOT IT MAKES SENSE TO PROSECUTE THE MOTHER IN
THE CASE. LAWYERS ARGUED THAT COMPELLING
THE CHILD TO GO AHEAD WITH THE PREGNANCY WOULD’VE BREACHED
HER HUMAN RIGHTS; AND BY EXTENSION THE DECISION TO
PROSECUTE HER MOTHER FOR HELPING HER ACCESS MEDICATION
ALSO AMOUNTED TO A BREACH OF HER HUMAN RIGHTS AND THOSE OF
HER MOTHER. THE REVIEW WILL LOOK AT WHETHER
THE DECISION BY POLICE TO ACCESS HER MEDICAL RECORDS WITHOUT
HER PERMISSION REPRESENTED REACH OF HER HUMAN RIGHTS AS
WELL. THE WAY THAT THAT HAPPENED WAS
THE GIRL WAS DEALING WITH AN ABUSIVE BOY WHO IMPREGNATED
HER AND HE WAS SAYING THAT IF YOU GO AHEAD AND HAVE THE
BABY, I AM GOING TO GO AND STAB THE BABY TO DAD, WHATEVER IT IS
AND SO SHE WAS FREAKING OUT. SHE WAS IN A LOT OF MENTAL
DISTRESS AND SO THE MOTHER TOOK HER TO A DOCTOR, A GENERAL
PRACTITIONER AND LET THE DOCTOR KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT WAS COMPLETELY OPEN AND
HONEST WITH THE DOCTOR ABOUT HOW HER DAUGHTER HAD TAKEN
THE ABORTION PILL AND THE DOCTOR WENT AHEAD AND ALERTED
AUTHORITIES ABOUT A DIET THAT POINT, AUTHORITIES ACCESS
THE GIRLS MEDICAL RECORDS WITHOUT PERMISSION. THAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM. IT IS HARD FOR ME TO TAKE
THIS ISSUE AS ONE WHERE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DEBATE. THE LAWS IN NORTHERN IRELAND ARE
WRONG IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT WAYS. 1ST OF ALL, ABORTION IS A
MEDICAL PROCEDURE, IT IS NOT A MORAL ISSUE, AND IF YOU
THINK IT IS A MORAL ISSUE, THAT IS YOUR OPINION MAN BUT
NOT EVERYONE IN NORTHERN IRELAND AGREES WITH THE SAME
RELIGION YOU DO LET ALONE THE SAME INTERPRETATION OF
THAT RELIGION. AND I WILL POINT
OUT THAT YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT YOUR OWN RELIGION. IN
THE BIBLE IT SAYS THIS EXACT THING, IN NUMBERS FIVE,
GO READ IT FOR YOURSELF. HE SAYS IF YOU THINK YOUR WIFE
CHEATED ON YOU, GIVE HER A TOXIN AND IT WILL CAUSE A
MISCARRIAGE. IN THE BIBLE, YOU GIVE HER A
TOXIN AND IF SHE DID CHEAT ON YOU, SHE HAS A MISCARRIAGE
AND GOOD, SHE DESERVED IT FOR CHEATING ON YOU. NOT ME SAYING IT, IT’S GOD
SAYING IT. IT IS IN THE BIBLE, GOD IS
PRO-ABORTION. GOD DID ALMOST EXACTLY WHAT THEY
ARE DOING HERE BUT IT WAS A LITTLE MORE PUNITIVE. SPARE ME WHAT YOU THINK ARE
YOUR MORAL CONCERNS WHEN IN FACT, YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY WRONG BY
YOUR OWN MORALITY. IT IS HILARIOUS AND REALLY SAD. IN TERMS OF NORTHERN IRELAND
HAVING DIFFERENT LOSS IN THE UK, THAT IS DEEPLY FRUSTRATING AND I
UNDERSTAND IS COMPLICATED IN THAT RELATIONSHIP, THE LOOK, I
AM AN AMERICAN AND I BELIEVE IN SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
THAT I THINK ANY TIME WHEN SOMEBODY SAYS MY RELIGION
SHOULD YOU ALL, AND THEY ARE TOTALLY WRONG ABOUT THE
RELIGION ON TOP OF IT, IT IS HORRIBLE DIET IS HORRIBLE WHEN
THE TALIBAN DOES AND IT IS HORRIBLE WHEN CATHOLICS IN
NORTHERN IRELAND DO IT. CONSIDER THE FACT THAT WE ARE
HAVING A CONVERSATION ABOUT A 15-YEAR-OLD WHO WAS IMPREGNATED
BY A BOY, ONE YEAR OLDER THAN HER WHO WAS ABUSIVE. SHE IS DESPERATE AND SCARED. THE MOTHER HELD HER DAUGHTER
ALAN MADE A DECISION THAT SHE FELT WAS BEST FOR HER DAUGHTER
AND FOR THEIR FAMILY AND TO HAVE THE GOVERNMENT GET INVOLVED AND
TREAT THIS MOTHER AS IF SHE IS SOME CRAZY CRIMINAL, BY THE WAY,
WOMEN WHO HAVE HAD ILLEGAL ABORTIONS IN NORTHERN IRELAND
HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH SERIOUS CRIMES, INCLUDING MURDER
CHARGES. IN THEORY, THEY CAN GET LIFE
IMPRISONMENT NORTHERN IRELAND. THIS MOM IS FACING 10 YEARS IN
PRISON FOR HELPING HER 15-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER WHO DIDN’T
WANT TO HAVE THAT PREGNANCY GO TO TERM. THE DRUG IS BIOMEDICAL ACCOUNTS
ACROSS THE WORLD SAFE AND IN HER CASE, IT WAS SAFE. IT IS INSANE TO ME THAT A SIMPLE
MEDICAL PROCEDURE I KNOW, SINCE A GROUP IN AMERICA AND IF YOU’RE
WATCHING THIS IN NORTHERN IRELAND GREW UP IN A CULTURE SO
YOU THINK THAT IS THE ONLY REALITY. BUT YOU KNOW, AND OTHER PARTS OF
THE WORLD, THEY DON’T THINK ABORTION IS REMOTELY A MORAL
ISSUE DIET DOESN’T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOU. THIS INTEGRAL PERSON IS NOT A
BAD PERSON, HER MOM IS NOT A BAD PERSON OR A MORAL PERSON
FOR HELPING HER. THEY DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING,
THEY MADE A DECISION ABOUT THEIR LIVES. IN THE WESTERN WORLD, ARE WE
SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM? OR ARE WE JUST A DIFFERENT
VERSION OF AL QAEDA? BY THE WAY, THE WAY THAT
THESE LAWS IN NORTHERN IRELAND ARE WRITTEN, ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO
OUT FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WHO WEREN’T IN A DESPERATE
SITUATION AND HAD AN ABORTION. LET ME GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE, AND
THIS MADE ME SO ANGRY. APPARENTLY LAST YEAR A WOMAN
WAS PROSECUTED AFTER HER ROOMMATES REPORTED HER TO POLICE
FOR SEEKING THE SAME PILLS TO TERMINATE HER PREGNANCY AT
HOME. HER ROOMMATES ARE TERRIBLE
PEOPLE. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. WORSE THAN THAT, IF YOU ASKED
ME, AND I WILL TELL YOU WHY IT’S WORSE, IS THAT IN
THE CASE OF THE Ä15, THEIR DOCTOR TURNED THEM IN. THE DOCTORS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW
TO TURN IN ANYONE WHO THEY FIND OUT SICK THIS PILL. BUT WHAT IS I DO? THAT TURNS THE DOCTORS INTO
SECRET AGENTS OF THE GOVERNMENT AND IT MAKES PEOPLE
RELUCTANT TO GO TO THEIR DOCTORS AND ALSO TO BE HONEST
WITH THE DOCTORS. LET’S SAY YOU HAVE A
COMPLICATION. BUT IF YOU TELL THE DOCTOR WHAT
ACTUALLY HAPPENED, HE MIGHT TURN YOU WHEN AND PUT YOU IN
PRISON, RIGHT? IF YOU DON’T TELL THEM, YOU
MIGHT BE ENDANGERING YOUR HEALTH. DON’T DO THAT THE DOCTORS. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO GO TO
DOCTORS AND CONFIDE IN THEM, AND THEN THE FINAL IRONY IS, WE ARE
GOING TO TURN DOCTORS INTO LIKE THE GESTAPO OF THE STATE, BUT
WE ARE GOING TO DO THAT BECAUSE WE ARE MORAL. BY THE WAY, THIS STORY IS AN
INTERNATIONAL ONE TAKING PLACE IN NORTHERN IRELAND. HE SHOULD BE A CAUTIONARY TALE
FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE UNDER WHAT
CONSERVATIVE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS WON UNDER WHAT MEMBERS OF TRUMPS
ADMINISTRATION WANTS, UNDER WHAT TRUMP HIMSELF WANTS, THIS
TYPE OF POLICY WOULD BE PUT IN PLACE HERE IN THE UNITED
STATES. WHEN PEOPLE WONDER WHY SO MANY
PEOPLE, WOMEN AND MEN GOT TOGETHER PROCESS IN THE WOMEN’S
MARCH, IT WAS BECAUSE WE DON’T WANT TO GET TO THIS POINT. WE WANT TO DO WHATEVER WE CAN TO
PROTECT INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY AND ALLOW PEOPLE TO MAKE THEIR
OWN DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR OWN BODIES. HERE IN AMERICA, WE ARE GOING
TO FIGHT BACK AND WE’RE NOT GOING TO LET THESE GUYS IMPOSE
SHARIA LAW ON US WHETHER IT IS SHARIA LAW FROM ISLAM
OR SHARIA LAW FROM CHRISTIANITY

  1. Not Catholics!!!!!! The party in power is the Democratic Unionist Party who Protestants vote for. They are stopping abortion legalisation!

  2. Why does Cenk diss the Bible as much as much as he does, defend Islam like there's no tomorrow, then claim to be atheist?  In fact, why do atheist, in general, defend Islam?  I am genuinely cuious and not asking for handgrenades, but a discussion.

  3. Technically the prosecution does not have a case, because the authorities obtained the girl's medical records without consent or a warrant. The doctor breached doctor-patient confidentiality and therefore should also be held accountable and have their medical licence suspended. It is incredibly frustrating to see governments stick their noses into citizens' family planning choices and at the same time decimate millions of lives through warfare, corruption and greed. Instead of acting like glorified uterus inspectors we should try to resolve problems such as declining education systems, unemployment, food insecurity and the ever present dangers that climate change pose to well being of this planet.

  4. I wish people would mind their own business when it comes to murder, people are just a clump of cells so who cares?
If I want to use my body to harm a clump of cells then I will- my body, my choice.

  5. I hate people! I know that there are lots of good people out there, but in general, I really find it hard to like humans in general.
By you claiming what is good or bad for my body, you are essentially saying indirectly, I own you, and I decide what is good or bad for you, to such an extent that I will put you in prison for years and years, because I think that this or that is good for you.

    Fucking humans!

  6. It's not just Catholics in Northern Ireland. There's as much opposition from Protestant, Evangelical and Baptist politicians. And these are the people who are so desperate for Northern Ireland to remain part of the UK, love everything British, but at the same time, don't want the UK's abortion or gay marriage legislation. Last year legislation on Fatal Foetal Abnormalities was introduced (i.e. allowing termination in those cases) but it was defeated 59-40. It's disturbing. And there is no real morality in NI politics. It's all for show. The current largest party (the DUP) are the most hateful, corrupt and sectarian people to ever walk the earth.

  7. Cenk please look into details more before commenting on other countries just a bit. I live in Northern Ireland and it isn't the catholic irish republican (very different from american) party Sinn Féin that is causing this problem though they cause plenty, but the pro-UK protestant party the DUP that is blocking abortation by using religion as a accuss.

really it wouldnt take long just google abortain ban northern ireland and lot of article like this continues noting it is the DUP that is anti-abortion come up https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/06/no-extending-abortion-act-to-northern-ireland-first-female-premier-arlene-foster-court-ruling-rape

  8. TYT definitely got Numbers 5 verse totally wrong. But abortions should NOT be left up to the gov't it should be ONLY the individual PERIOD!!! And if men don't like it, cut your dicks off OR use them on anything but a woman!!!

  9. What a douche of doctor to go behind the parent's back inform the authorities for simply doing what is in the best interest of this 15 y/o.

  10. Too bad it there wasnt a safe and legal option. Oh wait it doesnt exist over there and that's the reason why people have to resort to this shit in the first place.

  11. I live in Ireland. My best friend's sister was five months pregnant when she found out that the infant she was carrying had close to no skull forming. Although doctors told her that there was zero chance of survival, she was also told that she had no choice but to give birth.

Devastated, she and her husband decided to go to England to receive an abortion, so that she didn't have to experience the trauma of birth, just to deliver a dead or dying infant.

I find it disgusting that she was denied compassion in her home country, and denied the ability to be around her own family and comfort. Instead, she was forced to spend upwards of 1000 euro for plane tickets, hotel rooms, the cost of the abortion – and she had to do it all alone.

This was over a month ago, and she still hasn't received the ashes, because it is illegal to travel over international lines with any sort of remains (without specific rules being met).

It's time for Ireland to take responsibility for their women, who they continue to traumatise with these archaic laws that the Catholics imposed.

  12. people in potato famine land, know that the "white" population is going to shit. so of course make abortion illegal

  13. "Catholics in Northern Ireland do it" Err the way the government and legal system in Northern Ireland works is that both communities must give their assent. Same sex marriage narrowly passed its vote in Stormont, but due to almost total opposition by the Unionists, it couldn't become law. The limits on abortion in Northern Ireland are supported by both the Catholic church and the Presbyterian church.

I know Northern Ireland is a complicated topic but thinking that the Catholic church has enough power and influence to unilaterally enforce laws in Ulster is the dumbest thing I've heard that wasn't from a DUP member.

  14. That's adultery, in the verse, adultery is punishable by death. There for anyone one who cheats must die, because that's how the bible works. That was cheating not getting a baby, it was not adultery there for it is not ok by the bible. Abortion is fine, before labour IMO

  15. I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. So for all those out saying that abortion is murder, am I a murderer? My body aborted a fetus.

  16. As usual the Catholic (Child Molesting Church) gets to rule over another human beings right to choose. Did the Irish Hippocrites prosecute any child molesting priests? No the worship child molesters & rapists!

  17. Northern Ireland is a strange anomaly. If this had happened anywhere else in the UK, everything the woman and daughter did would have been legal.

  18. THIS is motherlove. Bless her.
Thankyou for the info; it is Maddening!
I hope they have staunch support.
    💪🏽💜

  19. This is Primetime Propaganda as usual… obviously skewing facts and interpreting what happened on their own accord. Also Cenk lies as usual with is lack of Biblical knowledge, Numbers 5 means that unfaithful women will be unable to get pregnant… Also my and many others reasoning about why abortion is evil has nothing to do with religious reasons, but scientific ones.

  20. cenk its a Christian issue not a catholic issue. catholic never ruled northern Ireland. check out the troubles and why they all started lol. catholics have been repressed for years. you must be using some of those alternative facts old Donald is using

  21. It's just like the laundries. If a girl was lucky enough to escape from them, anyone who caught her would send her back to her horrific fate. That's how mentally sick the Catholics have made the entire country.

  22. The abortion debate is constantly running here in N. Ireland. Most people who desire an abortion tend to go to Manchester to terminate privately.

For an instance of medical requirement, they still fly over to the mainland UK to be covered by the NHS because they were refused treatment here.

That was a big debate recently.

  23. My family are from Northern Ireland and its rules for this are disgusting! A friend of a friend's baby died whilst in the womb and they made that girl carry to term, be induced and give birth naturally. She is now completely traumatised by it.

  24. it's takes 6 weeks for the fetus to have a heart beat can't they abort it before the heart start beating. I'm not into abortion but I do believe once the fetus have a heartbeat that's living being. so abort it before the heart start beating then it's not killing anyone.

  25. the thing that annoyed me about this is that they just lumped the North and south together without knowing about the political differences of the North and south. Like they instantly assumed, oh Ireland, anti-abortion, those damned Catholics. Without Knowing that in the north the parties supported by mostly Catholics are pro-abortion and the parties supported by mostly Protestants are anti-abortion. The DUPs party leader is the one who is stopping gay marriage from happening in the north. While the south voted to make it legal. they just assumed that Ireland is just full of fundamentalist Catholics weather its north or south.

  26. Side note the DUP (tending to be majority Protestant/Unionist) are the party most blatantly against abortion with Sinn Fein (Catholic/Nationalist) leaning towards limited abortions in fatal foetal circumstances with many members of independent parties (such as People before Profit and even members within Sinn Fein etc.) promoting women's reproductive rights. Limited abortions would be a huge step in legislature despite the fact they are clearly lacking.
The state of Northern Ireland is very mixed and I feel like it's a very generalised statement which doesn't fully apply when implying it is only the Catholic Church against these rights when you take a real look to who is in power within Stormont.

  27. I am Northern Irish and came back to the live stream towards the end of the Northern Ireland story (I watched the start but had to jump out for a while in the middle because I had to dish out a kneecapping that I couldn't reschedule).

I just wanted to clarify some points. The country itself isn't completely backward by having a different law than the rest of the UK. What has happened is that we have certain responsibilities devolved to a local government (kind of like letting individual states decide certain matters). For example, Northern Ireland (and Scotland) can decide to allocate funding to health, education or policing and justice issues in a different way than England and Wales where the national law set in Westminster usually applies.

Northern Ireland itself has had a troubled past and as part of the settlement to end the 30-40 year conflict between Irish Republican paramilitaries and British Loyalist paramilitaries, these groups had to agree to decommission all weapons and suspend all paramilitary activity (and in exchange, the British army would gradually end its prolonged occupation and begin to withdraw). The proposed resolution was put to the public in a referendum and they voted overwhelmingly in favour of an end to hostilities and maintain peace through an ongoing power sharing agreement. This means that when we vote there will always be representatives from both sides of the divide so that everyone is always represented. There will always be a party who will be a majority party of (British) Unionism and another who will be a majority party in (Irish) Nationalism.

The current majority party in Unionism is the DUP (Democratic Unionist Party). There are a significant number of evangelical Christians in that party and there has been a lot of controversy recently over their obstructionism (I'll also note that there's a strong level of hypocrisy in this party, much like how the US Republican Party preach "Judeo-Christian and family values", and rally against abortion yet are caught later committing adultery and force the women they've impregnated to have abortions; likewise, the DUP has had its own share of sex scandals, conflict of interest scandals, accusations of self-dealing and corruption). Anyway, we held a vote in the legislative chamber and a majority voted in favour of same-sex marriage. The DUP chose to veto this using a tool called the Petition of Concern.

The Petition of Concern is a veto power that requires 30 members to object to proposed legislation even when it has majority support. The intended purpose of this veto was to object to proposed legislation if members across a number of parties had concerns that introducing the law could be detrimental to the ongoing peace process or potentially lead to a resurgence of dissident terrorism. The DUP, however, have 33 seats and have abused this tool on several occasions with no cross-party support for the Petition of Concern, going against its intended use.

As I said previously, one such use was to veto same-sex marriage. I'm not sure whether the abortion issue has been re-debated recently but the general feeling is that they would probably veto it. To be fair, some members from the Nationalist side (who are predominantly if not all Roman Catholic) may choose to vote against abortion legalisation too, if it was proposed. That being said, the Republic if Ireland is becoming more progressive and despite being a fairly religious Catholic country, more and more people would support the legalisation of abortion (much like same-sex marriage which they relatively recently held a referendum on and all but one county supported allowing same-sex marriage despite religious beliefs).

Ireland has a long history of sweeping abortions under the carpet and it wasn't that long ago (a few decades) when young, unmarried girls would be sent to England to have abortions in secret or hide the pregnancy and deliver the baby for adoption before returning to Ireland. In other words, it's been widely practiced in recent Irish history and not talked about, but now that it is being discussed, the country has more progressive views on it (and acknowledge that they can still choose not to advocate it for themselves but that another woman should have the choice).

To conclude, the majority of the country (Northern Ireland, UK) seems to be pro-choice, as I see it, but we have difficulty bringing in the relevant legislation, and to counter Cenk's point about it being "frustrating when Catholics in Northern Ireland do it" I remind you / him (like he'll ever read this lol) that the majority of votes cast against this issue (or veto) have actually come from the DUP and evangelical Christians (usually Presbyterian, Free Presbyterian or Elim Pentecostal, i.e. Protestants, not Catholics).

The Nationalist politicians in recent times tend to fight harder for social equality and civil rights (partly, I believe, because some of them did have a part in the original conflict where they did believe they were fighting a war for civil rights for Irish Catholics, which they were to an extent), and in general will be more principled in their voting and direct their votes based on the will of the wider public and their own constituencies rather than voting based on their own religious agenda (but again, there are exceptions and there will be times where it's Catholicism directs their vote).

  28. Tyt will take any news story from anywhere in the world and twist it so they can have a go at trump. And cenk said they will resist anyone who tries to impose sharia law on them? Racist?

  29. Nothing to do with religion only in crazy America do you draw those lines. People fall on different side of the divide on this issue regardless of their personal faith. Your hero Christopher Hitchens for example was opposed to abortion and he's an atheist.

  30. I'm from Northern Ireland and this level of bullshit-ery hurts. This country is full of ignorant, religious fanatics dressed up like politicians. You can be prosecuted IN northern Ireland if you travel to England to get an abortion. smh.

  31. I think we should let them pass laws that abortion is illegal ONLY on the condition that all sperm is now also "sacred" and a "new life". So no more masterbasion, that would be classed as reckless abandonment and given jail time. Lets see how long it takes for the bible bashers to back down when they cant touch themselves. How long will it take them to raise the argument that its "their" body and they can do whatever the f*ck they want with it!

  32. I'd like to talk about two of the speakers who attended the #WomensMarch and the total hypocrisy behind the movement.

The first speaker is Donna Hylton. Donna was arrested and spent 27 years in prison for the kidnapping and brutal murder of 62 year old real estate broker Thomas Vigliarole. It has been stated numerous times that Donna has never shown even the slightest bit of remorse for her actions. My question is, why the hell does a remorseless disgusting murderer have any credibility? And does anyone else consider it absolutely ridiculous that people behind the #WomensMarch look up to this person as empowering? I certainly see anyone who looks up to this horrible person as ignorant and I hope most of you do too. When it comes to these two speakers, Donna takes the cake when it comes to criminal actions. However, the second speaker in my opinion easily wins the award for being the most full of shit and backwardly hypocritical in her agenda and beliefs.

The second speaker is Linda Sarsour. Sarsour by the way means "cockroach" in Arabic. Just a little fun fact. Anyway, Linda, probably the loudest voice behind the #WomensMarch, is a strong advocate for Sharia Law. Just so many of you see where I'm coming from, here is a list of the reprehensible laws behind Sharia Law:

-A man can beat his wife for insubordination

-A female's clitoris is to be cut (Book 41, Kitan Al-Adan, Hadith 5251)

-A woman cannot drive a car

-A man can marry an infant girl and consummate the marriage when she is 9 years of age

-A man can divorce his wife; a woman needs her husband's consent to divorce

-A woman who has been raped cannot testify in court against her rapist(s)

-A woman's testimony in court, allowed in property cases, carries half the weight of a man's

-A non-Muslim man who marries a Muslim woman is punishable by death

-Testimonies of four male witnesses are required to prove rape against a woman

A divorced wife loses custody of all her children over 6 years of age or when they exceed it

-A female heir inherits half of what a male heir inherits

-A woman cannot speak alone to a man who is not her husband or relative

A woman can have 1 husband, who can have up to four wives

These are just a few of the laws behind Sharia (See the full list online). Laura is an advocate for Sharia Law and has repeatedly said she would like to see it established in the United States. She has also made many anti-semetic comments and is an avid supporter of Hamas. Also, her husband mourned the death of two terrorists Adel and Imad Awadollah in 1998. Now, why would a woman who is an advocate for a religious set of laws built off of oppressing women be an empowering speaker at the #WomensMarch??! I sense an ulterior motive and a seperate agenda. Not to mention the laughably ridiculous hypocrisy of Laura herself, supporters of the march who are aware of her beliefs, and the organizers of the march. Anyone else see the blatant hypocrisy?

I'd like to just say, I am not Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, Republican, etc. I just point out stupidity and hypocrisy wherever I see it, whether from the right or from the left.

  33. Republicans are not looking at the root of the problem. The question is how did the daughter get pregnant in the first place?

  34. Every woman has the right to decide what happens to her own body, if she doesn't want to carry a child she shouldn't have to. Anything else but pro-choice is a vile and disgusting violation of an individual's right to self-determination. Anyone who even tries to force or coerce a woman into carrying a child to term (or into having an abortion) when she doesn't want to, is guilty of attempting to rob another person of on of their essential freedoms. It is the woman's choice alone, neither the parents (unless she is a minor) nor the father nor the government have any right to any say whatsoever.

Also, the term "murder" does not apply in any way, in this context it is a dishonest rhetorical device used by conservatives to falsely justify their robbing of women's freedom and the satisfaction of their urge for punishment. The reason is simple: a fetus is not an separate independent organism, it is merely a part of the woman's body until such time that it is capable of surviving and developing independently outside the womb (given the proper medical equipment and care, of course). And as a part of the woman's body, she is free to do with it as she will – yes even sell its tissue for medical research if she so chooses, just as she would sell a kidney, etc. During this early phase of development abortion should be seen as a voluntary no-stigma-attached medical procedure, in which the only consideration should be the health of the mother. Abortion pills should be prescribed with just as much ease as birth control, of course by a medical professional with the patient's health foremost in mind, but with no other strings attached.

The government is then free to set the limit of when the early phase of fetal development transitions into the late phase, after which it may prohibit abortion provided they can, should the mother opt out of carrying the child further, ensure its survival and proper development using hospital equipment outside the womb. Because even in this late phase it is still the woman's choice not to have to carry the baby, yes she may be forbidden by law from killing it as it is now legally considered a person at this stage, but the designation of personhood may only be applied if the procedure of removing the child from her womb and then keeping it alive is possible. If this is not the case, then it turns out the child was not yet a separate organism, but still a part of her body.

I believe this definition of the transition from fetus to human child is the only reasonable and natural one. If you are observant you may have noticed that this definition allows for the shift of the transition point between phases to earlier and earlier times as medical technology improves. I do not believe this is a bad thing, in the future the simple removal of the fetus and continued growth in an artificial womb may come to replace abortion. If this future solution still does not satisfy "pro-life" people then, they have shown they are not pro-life but merely in favor of forcing women to carry children to term. In favor of needless psychological and physical torture of women. In short, you have shown yourself to be despicable.

I am aware even pro-choice people may consider my views "extreme" but I ask you to consider the logic of what I'm saying. We all agree that fetuses start out as non-persons and end up as persons, yes? Thus it must be the case that we should be able to define unambiguously a point at which the transition occurs, at least for legal purposes. My approach merely proposes a way to decide this legal question. Obviously nature does not provide such a clean transition point, since the very idea of personhood with its rights and freedoms is an abstract and artificial concept that nature cares nothing about. But the legal system does not deal in gradients, or shades of personhood, it deals in absolutes. I challenge anyone else to find an alternative objective and unambiguous definition of this legal transition that makes people more "comfortable", but without merely referring to an arbitrarily set number of weeks.

  35. In Northern Ireland the majority support laws like abortion or gay marriage however due to our power sharing political system the largest Unionist (Protestant) party, that is also very right wing, misuses their veto on any 'moral' issue.

  36. Don't ever use the old testament and think it's some kind of argument win. Most modern day Christians don't follow anything from the old testament, because a new covenant was made when Jesus died. Hence why they don't sacrifice animals, or beat or stone their children for not listening, or stone people in general, etc etc. Nobody follows the Bible that closely. Literally no one, especially after the reformation. So stop using that in your arguments, it makes you look like a tool. They can easily turn around and pull out another scripture that tells you why gays are bad, and another where if your son continues to disobey you, take him to the gates of the city and stone him to death. So do you want them to follow it or not? It's only a religious argument with a small portion of people. It's really a moral argument. Personally I think it should be only used under extreme circumstances, and even then there should be a limit on how many times the same woman does it. There's plenty of people that desperately want children. If you are pregnant anyways, and it's not going to literally kill you, why not have it and make someone else extremely happy?

  37. first off a woman should be able to choose what they want to do with their bodies not men, Congress or anyone else. we can't tell men what to do with theirs.

  38. They should move here to the US even though we have an ass for a president at least we can make our own choice well right now that is

  39. You liberals should be outraged that the mother got charged. Isn't abortion a form of birth control for you? that's why you're pro- abortion and pro-choice?
Don't act as if you really care now.
I hope she got charged with first-degree murder. No? Only if the 15-year-old also got killed?
You're all suffering from cognitive dissonance.

BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!!! Go protest your "PRESIDENT" Trump! LOL

#BlacksForTrump 2017-2024 (you best believe that)

  40. Do they turn people in out of fear of being an accessory to a crime? Or they just think they have some religious obligation to do so? The former is sort of understandable since they do not want to face consequences for other people's problems; the latter just makes them huge bible chewers.

  41. You guys always go on about how it's allowed in the UK… abortion is not a legal right in the UK either, you can only get an abortion in the UK under medical grounds, independently approved by two doctors. Granted those medical grounds can be based on emotional stress but you can't just say "I don't want a baby give me an abortion" and so it isn't really a choice here either, you have to convince two doctors that you or the baby would physically or emotionally suffer if the pregnancy isn't terminated.

  42. North of Ireland have a power sharing agreement of government (prior to and probably post forthcoming election) which means the 2 largest parties share power. these are the DUP (protestant/unionist) and Sinn Fein (Catholic/Republican, entirely different from USA republicans obviously I should add). To be clear, DUP is staunchly Pro-life and implements laws and positions to reflect this. DUP are the ones pressing for prosecution, Not progressive parties (of which there are many. Sinn Fein has come under alot of scrutiny for pushing for more pro-choice laws and legislation to protect women's human rights. Cenk, you are incorrect to assume this is a Catholic religious thing and spread this misinformation. Living in Belfast I can assure you this topic goes beyond religion. many on all sides have mixed feelings. some because of religious upbringing, other agnostics who believe I'm pro life. To complicated here to bring that up as many TV/radio/university debates are made and I can assure you religion is not used as a reference. Clarification on this would be appreciated. I'm sure you are not familiar with politics here (nor would I expect you to be), but it is also doesn't reflect well to comment on things that are not correct. well done to all that read this frivolous attempt to make the world wiser 👍

  43. This is a very small point, but it probably isn't Catholics in Northern Ireland enacting these laws. Northern Ireland is mainly Protestant, in contrast to Ireland which is largely Catholic. My family is from Northern Ireland, so I know you might get into trouble if you mix those up.

  44. Read the rest of the Bible, what you quoted is meant to be used in a strict Jewish lifestyle, if you read the infallible words of the Catechism of the Catholic Church it says that aboriginal is completely wrong, and all life should be respected, and even in America they define life starts after conception, but that the life is not considered a person until they are born because of Roe v wade, which would be changed.

  45. Actually Cenk, it's the Protestant fundamentalists who are banning abortion.  Catholics in NI are actually in favour of loosening the abortion laws, and legalising gay marriage.

  46. Sweet Jesus. Here we go again! Could these two idiots prove themselves to be any less educated about the world beyond the United States. FIRST OF ALL…why can't abortion be a purely moral issue whether you agree with it or not? Who do TYT always insist that anyone who is pro life, must be so, purely on religious grounds? SECONDLY Cenk once again puts his ignorance on display by blaming Catholics in Northern Ireland for this, when Northern Ireland is a predominantly PROTESTANT country and protestants in NI have the very same stance on abortion as Catholics, it's actually one of the very few things that both communities in that country have ever agreed upon. Progressive left wing TYT "journalism" at it's finest once again.

  47. a Gerard
