Even for parents who don’t meet the clinical standard for depression, pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period are extremely challenging. All parents need more and better support and healthcare. 2. PCORI and IDEA Coalition – Federal funding through PCORI is allowing us to partner with pregnant/postpartum women to improve the system of care through research3. Event Details – Pregnancy & Postpartum Health Expo – Free, Saturday, March 30th, 10-noon, Champaign Public Library, 200 W. Green Street 4. Information Fair: Over 30 exhibitors. A great mix of health care providers, community non-profits, family focused businesses, and research groups. Support moms and families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and child rearing. 5. Speakers and Panel: Research talks about maternal mental health, culminating in a panel of women talking about their experiences with perinatal depression. Allow women to hear about other people’s experiences, see that they are not the only one struggling, and learn about community resources that can help.6. Door Prizes and Food: Coffee, Bagels, Donuts to eat. We will also be giving out several door prizes, including gift cards to local establishments, passes for family activities, and even an i-Pad Mini!!!
